Curriculum Vitae - Theo Leenen

Since my childhood I always had dogs, but it was only in 1978 that I started with my own kennel. I first bred Labrador Retrievers (originating from well-known English bloodlines) and afterwards  Miniature Dachshunds Longhair.
My kennelname was KELBY’S. I had very good results with my dogs and several new kennels in Belgium started with Labradors which I bred.
At this moment I don’t breed anymore. And I have no dogs anymore. I became a judge in 1986 for Labrador Retrievers and since then I got qualified for +/- 300 breeds. First I got qualified for all the breeds of FCI-groups 4 and 8, afterwards for all the breeds of FCI-groups 2, 5, 6, 7 and 10 and several breeds in groups 1, 3 and 9.  I’m still working hard to get also my qualification for the other breeds and to become an allrounder.
At this moment I judge +/_ 25 times a year, mostly together with my partner, who is also a judge. She is allrounder. My judging appointments brought me in Europe to nearly every country. But I also judged already several times in Australia, China and Japan, and at one show even in India, Israel, Thailand and Argentina.
During all these years I was involved in several breed clubs and for several years I was responsible for inviting show-judges for the International  Dogshow of Lommel in Belgium. Besides this I’m President of the Board of the Belgian Kennel Club and a member of the Judges Commission.
